Cyberbullying

Some Top Tips for Parents

  • Be alert to your child seeming upset after using the internet or their mobile phone

  • Talk to your children about how they are using phones and the internet and try to keep up!

  • Make sure you are using built in internet safety features

  • Remind your child not to retaliate (it does not help and the child being bullied may then be seen as a bully and some bullying can involve the police and criminal action)

  • Keep any evidence (instinctively you may wish to delete; a solution is to cut and paste into a document and save with further evidence)

  • Report cyberbullying (it is subversive and not harmless)

.............- Contact your child's school
.............- Contact the service provider
.............- Depending upon severity consider contacting the police
